Gear Safety Guide

Skydiving gear is life-support equipment. Before buying or selling any equipment on OneSkydive, please review these essential safety guidelines.

Reserve Repack Compliance

Reserves must be repacked by a certified rigger every 180 days (or per your national authority's requirements). Always check the pack date before purchasing a container. Never jump a reserve that is out of date.

AAD Service Intervals

Automatic Activation Devices (AADs) require manufacturer-specified service intervals — typically every 4 years for most units. Check the battery and service date before buying. An expired AAD is not airworthy.

Age and Jump Numbers

Parachute containers have a recommended service life. High jump numbers accelerate wear on closing loops, risers, and pilot chutes. Have older rigs inspected by a master rigger before purchase.

Canopy Condition Inspection

Look for porosity issues, line wear, toggle damage, and brake setting changes. Request line trim measurements. A porosity test by a rigger is advisable for any canopy with significant jumps.

Helmet and Altimeter Safety

Visually inspect helmets for cracks and delamination. Check audible altimeter batteries. Digital altimeters should be checked against a reference unit. Never skydive with an untested or damaged helmet.

Transaction Safety

Use our built-in messaging system to communicate with sellers. Verify the seller's trust score and license status before committing to a purchase. Arrange in-person gear checks where possible.

When in doubt, consult a certified rigger or your national skydiving organisation. Safety is a shared responsibility in our sport.
